Achievements of the Foundation Faculty in the Field of Quality in the 2013-2014 Academic Year

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the Foundation Faculty worked with the school-leavers and college graduates willing to continue their education at the University. Specialists of the Faculty studied the trends of the market of educational services, worked in the field of advertising, career guidance, and providing educational services.

Key areas of the Faculty’s activity were:

1) Educational activities with participation of academic staff members from Departments (career guidance, providing information about the admission rules and programs offered by the University):

- presentations during meetings with general education school students and their parents - 83.

- presentations to final-year college students - 25.

- holding meetings with prospective students. Working in close cooperation with the regional and local Departments of Education, members of the Faculty held 16 meetings with prospective students, including 5 meetings at PSU (for school-leavers from secondary general and specialized schools of the city of Pavlodar, as well as for prospective students from Pavlodar, Uspenka and Lebyazhye areas and participants of the regional academic competitions) and 11 away meetings.

Total number of students who have attended such meetings this year is 3,294. Besides, for the first time in its history, the University held a meeting with employees (parents of prospective students) at Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC, one of the largest companies of our region.

2) Working with the Foundation groups with in-depth language training and additional university courses, the credits for which are guaranteed to be transferred after the admission. According to the result of the 2014 CTA, 68.3% of Foundation Faculty students won state educational grants. Besides, all of them studied three university courses (Foreign Language, Fundamentals of Law, and Fundamentals of the Economic Theory) and will not have to re-take them after the admission.

3) Targeted training in CNT and CTA subjects.

244 people (180 students of city schools and 64 college graduates) were preparing for CNT and CTA at the Foundation Faculty during the 2013-14 academic year. 219 of them (90% of the total number) won state educational grants.

Members of the Faculty provided assistance in preparing for CTA to 315 college graduates planning to enter S. Toraighyrov PSU (trial testing and free consultations in CTA subjects).

4) Specialized training of senior school students.

Specialized training was delivered to 83 students of the 10th grade and 79 students of the 11th grade in the 2013-2014 academic year.

After passing the final certification, the school-leavers received qualifications of auto mechanic, engineering graphics operator, draftsman, accountant-economist, administrative assistant with the knowledge of the English language, and food technologist. Subsequently, 26.5% of them entered S. Toraighyrov PSU.

5) The Faculty is also involved in realization of the Program of Multilingual Education Implementation at S. Toraighyrov PSU for 2012-2016. Under this program, students and staff members of the University can study foreign languages to prepare themselves for entering Master's and Doctoral programs. Total number of learners attending language course is 80. Upon completion of the course, each student gets a certificate of attendance with indication of the level.
